All About Yamuna Expressway

Yamuna Expressway is a 6 lane, 165 km long, controlled access expressway that is build to reduce the travel time between New Delhi and Agra. It is India's longest six lane controlled access expressway stretch. This Expressway took around 47 months and the total project cost was Rs 128.39 billion that runs from Greater Noida to Agra, crossing Aligarh and Mathura with several new projects.

 The construction of the project began in December 2007. The expressway starts from Greater Noida and ends at Kuberpur on NH2 toward Kanpur and Agra.  A total of 13 service roads of about 168km have been built for the local commuters. This Expressway also connects the main townships and commercial centers on the eastern side of river Yamuna.

 It is India's longest access controlled concrete pavement Expressway engineered and built to international standards developed by the Jaypee Group under public private partnership (PPC). This relieves the traffic congestion on the National Highway. The Yamuna Expressway is planned to have 5 LFDs with facilities of 4 Toll Plazas and 6 Interchanges along the entire length. The Yamuna Expressway Project was formally inaugurated on 9th August, 2012 by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. This Expressway cuts in half the travel time. The speed limit at the expressway is about 100 kilometers per hour.

 The Expressway corridor is bound to have a huge impact on the economic and industrial growth not only Uttar Pradesh but the adjoining states as well. Through the Expressway, it has now become quite easy for everyone to travel to the Taj Mahal. This has become a favorite destination among buyers as the formula one track and and several new real estate projects are coming up along the way. A lot of measures have been taken to make sure that there is a safe driving and the area is free from accidents. The drive between Noida and Agra is a never going one. The Yamuna Expressway was awarded on BOT (Built operate transfer) basis by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Authority (YEIDA).

The construction of the Yamuna Expressway was carried out by Jaiprakash Associates Ltd, the flagship company of the Jaypee Group, setting a benchmark of sorts by completing the major works well before the schedule. The objective of the scheme is the economic development of the area which will result in removing the disparity between rural and urban population and to increase the economic growth. The scheme was oversubscribed in spite of the worldwide recession.
